DHL to Pump Over $570 Million into Gulf Expansion by 2030

DHL is putting serious money into the Middle East — over $570 million by the end of the decade. The company says it wants to build better infrastructure, improve delivery times, and expand in countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, where trade is heating up fast.

This investment touches almost everything DHL does — from express delivery and freight forwarding to warehouses and e-commerce. They’re planning new hubs, adding more trucks (even electric ones), and working with local partners like Etihad Rail to make moving goods across borders faster and smoother.

Some of this work already kicked off in 2024, but now it’s gaining momentum. Earlier this year, DHL also bought a piece of Ajex, a Saudi parcel company, to get in on the growing last-mile delivery game — basically making sure packages get to people’s doors quicker.

The bigger picture? The Gulf region is seeing a lot of action. Big companies are setting up shop as countries like Saudi Arabia look beyond oil and put more focus on tech, tourism, and global trade. DHL sees big potential in things like energy, healthcare, and online shopping — especially with more people ordering high-end goods and businesses looking to reach customers abroad.

John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, put it like this: the Gulf is becoming a serious link between Asia, Europe, and Africa, and DHL wants to be part of that shift.

By the way, if you’re shipping across borders or need help with freight, warehousing, or customs in the Gulf, Triroute Shipping is right here in the region too. We help businesses move goods smoothly through freight forwarding, air and sea cargo, land freight, warehousing, and customs clearance — all backed by real people who know the local routes inside and out.
